If your New Year’s resolution is to not buy any more camera gear you might want to hold off on that! The guys at Fuji Rumors just posted a set of blurry leaked pics showing the upcoming Fuji X Pro2 and it looks like this one’s going to be a winner. Hit the jump for more pics!
Fuji X Pro2 Images Leaked
The original Fuji X-Pro1 was released in 2012 and the interchangeable lens rangefinder style camera looked like the Leica killer that everyone was waiting for. But autofocus problems and general poor performance caused many street photographers to look elsewhere. Fuji has since released 2 versions of the X100 in addition to the well respected XT-1 and XT-10 cameras so it was high time for an update!
The first pics of the Fuji X Pro2 cam have arrived thanks to the guys from Fuji Rumors and the new camera shows some subtle but important differences over the X Pro1:

Fuji X Pro1 Front:
The body looks pretty much the same from the front but the new Fuji X Pro2 now sports a command dial on the front like the X-T1 and X-T10. So far so good…

Now we’re seeing a bit more difference. Larger LCD, different grip and control layout. And… The Fuji X Pro2 now has diopter on the viewfinder! The original X Pro1 used Leica style screw in diopters that were expensive and frankly terrible. This is a huge step forward for my tired old eyes!

The leaked top pic makes it look like the X Pro2 is quite a bit smaller than the X Pro1 but if you match up the size of hot shoe you can see they’re pretty close. The X Pro2 has a more refined shaped in addition to a beefier hand grip and a 3 stop exposure compensation dial (the X Pro1 was limited to 2 stops).
The Fuji X Pro2 is expected to be released on January 15, 2016 and a lot of street photographers (myself included) are itching to see what’s under the hood. This will have to hold us for a while though!
StreetShootr’s Take
Listen, all they had to do is fix the performance of the X Pro1 and the Fuji X Pro2 would be an instant hit. We’re not expecting miracles here. Just give us the same camera but make it actually work the way we expect and we’ll be happy. But Fuji has a chance to up the ante with an updated sensor and performance that befits the flagship of Fuji’s camera lineup.
A lot of street photographers hope the Fuji X Pro2 gets it right this time but we’ll only have to wait a couple more weeks to find out!
